What are proxri?

Proxri (pronounced prox’ree) is short for one or more ProxRewards, which are rewards made with the proximity in mind. Here's how it works in practice:

Consider the arts you download or get via sharing. There are three main kinds of people involved:
1. The people who created the arts,
2. The people who helped you obtain the files via downloading or sharing, and
3. The people who helped you become aware of those arts, the artists, or how to get the arts files. Sometimes, these are the same people as number 2 above.
Basically, you reward these three kinds of people based on:
1. Your enjoyment and benefits,
2. Your circumstances, and
3. Their circumstances.
These special kinds of rewards are called "proxri," and may include money, things, services, relationships, actions, and so on, as well as a combination of these. Knowing about their circumstances is aided by ProxMonitors. Why do we think proxri can work? Because in a networked age, trust is the killer app.

The Basic Artsflex Proxri Agreement is below, and more details can be found below that in Proxri Agreements for Different Media. Proxri were developed as part of the proximity thinking framework to support relating to proximities such as circumstances, contexts, neighborhoods, communities, environments, etc. Proxri are a part of the ProxThink Growth Model, and there is a site dedicated to them at proxri.org.

Basic Artsflex Proxri Agreement

The most basic parts of proxri agreements between both you and Artsflex, and between you and individual arts creators, are the same. You may have already seen these three parts on the About page. More details can be found in the next section called Proxri Agreements for Different Media.

  1. We're not forcing you to pay for the arts available via Artsflex. We just ask you to pay something when you join to prove you can reward later (see number 2 below). After that, you can download all the arts you want. If you check Auto Sign-In, downloads start immediately when you click a link. The arts you might find here include visual art, music, photography, poetry, writing, design, film, video and other kinds of works.
  2. The people involved in getting you arts files include the arts creators, and the people who helped you obtain the arts files and become aware of the arts creators. We are asking you to reward these people in ways that make sense based on your enjoyment and benefits, your circumstances, and their circumstances. These kinds of rewards are called proxri (see section above), and may include money, things, services, relationships, actions, and so on, as well as a combination of these.
  3. We are saying you can share the files provided you make other people aware they are also expected to reward in similar ways (like number 2 above). We'll make it easy for you to let people you share with know and do this.

Again, more details can be found below in Proxri Agreements for Different Media. You should also know that this Basic Artsflex Proxri Agreement and the Proxri Agreements for Different Media below are part of our Terms of Use.

Proxri Agreements for Different Media

Once you understand What are proxri? and the Basic Artsflex Proxri Agreement, as you might guess, there are different considerations for different arts media. For example, you might need to look in different places on or in the media to find where you can proxri the individual arts creator. And, there may be different suggestions for different media for things like using, enjoying, displaying, etc.

There are several different ways you may get a proxri agreement for the media of the arts file you downloaded or that was shared with you:

  1. Standard agreements for different arts media can be found on the proxri.org site. These agreements have been set up as open standards. There you can read the agreements as well as download PDFs of the agreements that can travel along with arts files you share. The agreements include details about using and sharing the arts files, and the proxri process.
  2. Included with your downloaded or shared file, you may have gotten a PDF of the proxri agreement for the arts media.
  3. Near the download link for the arts file you may see a separate link for the proxri agreement for the arts media.

Please Note: When these proxri agreements for different media mention "the people who helped you become aware of the creator’s work, and those who helped you obtain the file," that includes Artsflex. Again, these Proxri Agreements for Different Media are part of our Terms of Use.

How to Proxri Individual Arts Creators

How do you proxri individual arts creators? First, three things to remember. Then, three ways to proxri.

Three things to remember:

  1. If you're unclear about what proxri are, see above for What are proxri? and the Basic Artsflex Proxri Agreement.
  2. As a guide, use the proxri agreement for the media of the arts file you have. It has details about using and sharing the arts files, and the proxri process. Standard agreements for different media can be found on the proxri.org site. Also, a PDF of the agreement may have been included in the downloaded or shared file. And, a web page for the agreement may also have been provided via a separate link near the download link for the arts file.
  3. Before you proxri, look for links to the arts creator's ProxMonitor, which can help you in deciding how you want to proxri.

Three ways to proxri individual arts creators:

  1. You can proxri arts creators directly from buttons or links in their blogs, websites, social media pages, or other places on the web.
  2. You can proxri arts creators using proxri links found on or in the arts files that you downloaded from Artsflex or received from someone who shared with you. Sometimes, you may need to type the link address into a browser.
  3. You may also proxri arts creators from links in the Artsflex site and email from us.

How to Proxri Artsflex

As the various proxri agreements for different formats state, Step 4 of the Proxri Deal is as below ...

"Consider the people who helped you become aware of the creator’s work, and those who helped you obtain the file. These people may deserve a reward too. Consider their circumstances as well." The people here at Artsflex are some of those people!

To help you in deciding how you want to proxri, you can consider the Artsflex ProxMonitor. To make a non-financial proxri, contact us. To proxri with money, use the form below. If paying on the web, you'll see the Artsflex logo. On a mobile, the seller will show proxri@artsflex.com. Also, your PayPal receipt will show a payment to David Loughry, and if you use a credit/debit card your card statement will show D LOUGHRY (David Loughry started Artsflex).
